For several of these women, their savings were used towards a big goal (like putting a deposit down on a house), and now they’re starting from scratch again. Or there’s one woman who had to use savings for medical expenses not covered by the NHS. Two things: 1) a savings goal needs to be weighed up alongside having a safety net in place. And, 2), prepare for the unexpected - this is where insurance (like critical illness, health, income protection) is your friend 💰

But, inheritances may be something that come your way in your lifetime, and so thinking about the best way to utilise any lump sums can be helpful. One key thing is to not give in to lifestyle creep (where you start spending slightly more on going out, buying nicer things etc, just because you can). And also to think about your most important goals and how to achieve them accordingly 🎁
